The name 'Nyx' comes from ancient Greek mythology. "A shadowy figure, Nyx stood at or near
the beginning of creation, and was the mother of personified gods such as Hypnos (sleep) and
Thanatos (death). Her appearances in mythology are sparse, but reveal her as a figure of exceptional
power and beauty."

And that is why 'Nine' was given her nickname by a Greek underworld terrorist group she helped crush
early in her career.

My name is Ace and I first encountered Nine at the CIA 'farm'. She suddenly appeared one day and took
the same classes. No one knew her name, or they weren't allowed to provide her name, so we started to
call her 'Nine' because that was the first digit of her CIA id. She was tall, strong, and lightning fast, and
she easily mastered all the weapons and CIA techniques we were shown at 'the farm'.

Then one day she disappeared...disappeared into the black hole of a highly secretive sector within the
U.S. government. And, because I have elite sniper/assassin skills, at her request, I too disappeared into
the secret sector.

What I didn't know at the time was that Nine had plans for me. Plans that went beyond my sniper skills.
She had personal plans for me as well.

NYX/Nine. Leader of the elite black ops team. Equally skilled as a warrior goddess and as a seductive temptress. Because of her beauty and talent to get unsuspecting men to cooperate, Nine is often used
for undercover work, luring men into sexual traps. Nine is open minded and free spirited.
Nine is married to Ace.

Ace. Narrator of the NYX/Nine stories. Expert marksman and sniper. Married to Nine
and they have a rather unconventional marriage.

President James Kellogg. First term President of the United States. 3 years after his wife
tragically died, Kellogg met and became engaged to Veronica Vesper. Close friends with Nine and Ace.

Veronica Vesper. Nicknamed 'V'. Former Interpol Agent. Engaged to be married to the President
of the United States. Former interpol agent. Now on special assignment working on United States
National Security. Close friends with Nine and Ace and enjoys the same free spirit and open
personality as does Nine. Loves to party and often goes out in disquise to discos and parties with Nine.

Edgar Hammer. Rogue ex-CIA operative and roadie for a rock band. Womanizer, heavy drinker,
smokes, swears, scallywag...let's see, have I missed any of his bad habits? hmmmm.
Whatever his bad habits, can he be trusted?

Sister Syra. Catholic nun helping the poor in Central America.
The villagers all know of her powers...mystic, prophet, and healer.
But does she call upon the dark side for her powers?
